Michael Kimbrough

Principal

Michael Kimbrough

My name is Michael Kimbrough and I’ve been in the Weld Re-8 School District for 4 years.  I started my journey here as the District Technology Coach in August 2020, helping our staff, students, and families navigate the first steps back after the pandemic.  During the 2020-2021 school year, I recognized that some students and/or families wanted their students to learn in an alternative setting.  With this information, I was tasked with creating the Weld Re-8 Online Academy program for the District.  For the past three years, this program has continued to serve our students who need an alternative setting to the traditional school model, and this program will become an official school starting in the Fall of 2024.  Before being employed in Weld Re-8 School District, I worked as a teacher in Westminster Public Schools, beginning in 2012.

My educational experience is as follows.  I graduated from Colorado State University in 2004 with a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.  After several years in the private sector, I decided to follow my passion for working with kids and got my Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix in 2010.  In 2018, I received my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Regis University, and in May 2024 I completed the classes necessary to obtain my Superintendent’s license from the University of Northern Colorado.

Fort Lupton has become my second home.  My wife is employed as a teacher and my daughter attends Fort Lupton High School as well.  I also have two other sons who are 23 and 21.  In addition, in collaboration with Gaby Rivera, my family has hosted coat drives in October at the district office and looks forward to continuing to give back to the community.

In my free time, I enjoy all things athletics.  I love going to sporting events and playing recreational sports.  I also enjoy traveling and listening to music in my spare time.

AP Nate Jacobson
I began my professional career at the Denver children's home in Denver Colorado. I ran a wilderness therapy program for six years before transitioning to a Treatment Supervisor position. In 2006 I began coaching girls basketball at Brighton High School, and the next year began teaching in their special education department. In 2016 I became the Dean of Students at Chaparral High School in Parker Colorado.  Three years after that I took a Dean position at Bromley East Charter School in Brighton to be closer to home.

I have lived in Colorado most of my life and in Brighton for the past 21 years.  My wife and I have been married for 25 years and we have three daughters.
My daughter Avery is an internationally recognized artist and Evynn and Emree are accomplished athletes.

My favorite hobby is golf, so I have spent a lot of time in Fort Lupton at Coyote Creek golf course ( I am a volunteer starter as well).  After a round of golf, we usually head over to Wholly Stromboli!! This is my family's favorite restaurant.   My experiences in the community of Fort Lupton have allowed me to meet some of the kindest people I know.  So again, I am excited about this opportunity.

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado, my teaching license from Metropolitan State University in Denver,  and my graduate degree from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City Utah.

Jim Roedel
Assistant Principal/Athletic Director
Jim Roedel

My name is Jim Roedel and I am the "new" but old Athletic Director. I served as Fort Lupton High School’s Athletic Director and Assistant Principal from 2015 thru 2021, and then had the privilege of serving as Weld Re-8's first ever Chief Operations Officer for the past 3 years. However, my heart has led me back to the high school where I will serve for the 2024-25 school year and hopefully beyond. For those that don’t know my journey, I was born and raised in Fort Lupton and graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1993, I then attended Mesa State College where I played college football, graduating in 1998 with my Bachelors of Business Administration. I then obtained a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management in 2002, while I was working with General Electric Company. I spent 15 years working for GE in their Transmission and Distribution business, where I got an opportunity to travel the world and establish new products and services globally.  I completed my Masters of Educational Leadership in 2017, and have been in the Weld Re-8 School District now for the past10 years, where I have also coached Boys Basketball at FLHS for the past 17 years.

I truly bleed blue and look forward to working with the Weld Re-8 Community to support our students reach their goals in life.

I have been married for 26 years and have 2 sons, 21 and 23 who both graduated from Fort Lupton High School. I enjoy all things sports and usually will spend any free time that I have with my family or golfing.

Melissa Klomp
Dean of Students
Dean of Students Klomp
Hello Bluedevil family, my name is Melissa Klomp and I am the Dean of Students.  I am a native to Colorado and grew up in south Denver, I graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School.  As a high school student I played soccer and was on the swim team.  I am very close to my family and am a first generation college graduate.  I went to Metro for my teaching degree and Regis for my Masters in Educational Administration. Before becoming a Dean I taught English, Student Council, Yearbook, and Drama and I fully support students both in academics and clubs/sports.  I am so excited to work with students to help them navigate high school successfully.  Being a dean is so much more than just discipline; I want students to know I will always help them make good decisions and be an adult they can come to when they are struggling.
