Measles Public Health Notice

Public Health Notice – Measles
Between January 1 and May 10, 2019, the U.S. has 839 cases of measles in 23 states. Six states are experiencing ongoing outbreaks of the disease. A measles outbreak is defined as three or more cases in 1 month. This is the greatest number of cases reported in the U.S. since measles was eliminated in 2000. Additional measles cases may occur if travelers get measles elsewhere and bring it to communities where residents are not vaccinated against the disease. As of May 1, 2019, there are no cases of measles in Colorado (there was one measles case in January from an adult who traveled overseas). (Please click the heading for more information.)
