Weld Re-8 Families:
Late this afternoon, Weld Re-8 District leaders had conversations with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Governor’s Office, other school district officials, and our respective local public health departments concerning school operations as they relate to the current COVID-19 situation. Based on these conversations, we will operate school on a normal schedule Friday, March 13. This decision was made in collaboration with state leadership, state and local health department officials, and our fellow school district leaders because there are no positive cases within Re-8 and Weld County.
We will receive an update from CDPHE and the State Epidemiologist late on Friday, March 13 regarding new information from the health departments or if there is evidence of significant community transmission. Based on new data shared, we will begin to formulate plans for short or longer-term school closures as necessary. The health of our students, staff, and families is our priority, and we recognize the uncertainty of this situation is troubling to many of you. Please reference the information on our website pertaining to student absences and promoting healthy habits for children. Thank you.
Alan Kaylor, Superintendent of Schools
